Rooming

  1. Don’t need to ask about reason for visit. Can ask here today for f/u on asthma/ eczema/ allergies? to keep it brief
  2. For med allergies: ask if any change from last visit if follow up
  3. Ask other questions briefly
  4. Start asking smoking history at 12
  5. Remember to ask about signs of sickness
  6. Usually a good idea to put all pts into rooms ASAP unless it would interfere with the schedule Ex: 10:00 gets to office before 9:30. If a pt is more than 35-40 min early, can ask MD
  7. Use judgement based on where MD is during day Ex: if MD is running 20 minutes behind, can spend a few more minutes in room with pt if needed
  8. For all ordered testing (EXCEPT SS), can put on all if pt is following up within reasonable time. Always a good idea to ask food testing pts (especially kids) if there are any new food concerns
  9. SS will always see pts first, so can put pt in room and let her know they are here
  10. MAs to check schedule for current day and chart on pts that were added after you checked for week.
  11. MAS always check huddle notes for that day - let FD/ nurses know if they need to call pts/ make trays
  12. If they have a dx of asthma or used an inhaler in the past year, do PFT unless EO pt. He will put in huddle note.
